History

The Augsburger Tree Care Conference (Baumpflegetage) was founded in 1993 by Dr Steffen Wiebe and began life as a two-day event featuring lectures at the City's Congress Hall. In 1995, Dirk Dujesiefken became the Managing Director. The Yearbook of Arboriculture (Jahrbuch der Baumpflege) has been published since 1997 forming a compendium of the papers delivered at the conference. In 1998, the Climbing Forum (Kletterforum) joined the event and provides a unique opportunity for the demonstration and dissemination of practical arboriculture.

Over the years, the conference grew to become the largest tree care event in Germany and in 2009, the conference moved to the Augsburg Trade Fair Centre. Today it is the largest tree care event in Europe with all lectures simultaneously translated from German into English and vice versa.

In 2020, Thomas Amtage took over as Managing Director and is developing new, dynamic ideas for the event.

Participants from over 30 nations now come to Augsburg to learn about the latest developments in tree care.
